Imagine a manager who believes younger employees are naturally better with technology. When hiring someone for a digital role, the manager might unconsciously favour younger candidates even when older applicants have stronger technical experience.

That assumption influences the decision before the evidence is fully examined.

A useful approach is to mentally divide information into three categories: what you know, what you reasonably infer, and what remains uncertain.
